Teacher Notes

🎯 Using Digraph Worksheets

  • Model each digraph sound clearly before students attempt exercises.
  • Fill-in activities: say the word aloud first, then let students write.
  • Match activity works well in pairs.
  • Always end with "Say it aloud!" — phonics is about sounds, not just spelling.

🎮 Flashcard Games

  • Say & Show: Teacher shows picture, students say the word.
  • Speed Sort: Students sort cards by digraph.
  • Memory Game: Print two sets — match picture to word.
  • Chain Game: Student says a word, next uses same digraph in new word.

🔤 Short Vowel Guidance

  • Short vowels are hardest for ESL beginners — 2-3 lessons per sound.
  • Use minimal pairs to train the EAR: "Can you hear: hat / hot?"
  • Mouth positions: a=wide open, e=slightly open, i=lips spread, o=round, u=relaxed.

🎤 AI Voice — Teacher Guide

  • Works in Chrome, Edge, Safari. Best on tablets or phones.
  • Encourage 3 recordings per word — improvement is noticeable by 3rd try!
  • Auto-stops after 60 seconds to prevent very long recordings.
  • Great for homework: students record, listen, and self-correct at home.
